Sometimes the hype and reviews make expectations for a film mile high. I enjoy Mahershala Ali very much and look forward to his work. However, MOONLIGHT felt like I was watching the title of the film – Moonlight. That’s what it was.
While I could understand what Barry Jenkins wanted to do in the film, I don’t think he was able to do it. MOONLIGHT didn’t seem authentic. It didn’t work.
