9Fest is about creativity. New ideas, new approaches to cinema make film a special world. Using a Black Magic camera, IN THE SILENCE is shot in Black & White. Quite clever because silence and noise is two dimensions also. IN THE SILENCE is a silent film which works so well with the script.
We open the film with tension between the husband and wife. We all know things are at the worst when no one can speak and silence fills the room. Even their child when held by the wife remains silent.
We want to see a resolution, we know the film cannot be more than 9 minutes in length. Aroonakorn’s script is excellent, even though there are no words. I want to a resolution to this conflict, but I also realize the film’s title is In the Silence, so I don’t think there will be any verbal resolution. I’m engaged in this story.
